Women + Non-Binary Networking and Leadership Event Inspires Denver Small Business Owners

When the Ladies Who Launch contacted me to photograph their next Denver event I was absolutely elated. Primarily, because I love women and non-binary folk succeeding! Plus working with non-profits and small businesses has always been extremely rewarding. When I am invited into spaces like these, I know it’s special.

When the LWL staff initially contact me for photography, I was only needed for event and branding images but as the event grew, we added a headshot station! That made this event bigger and better for the Jas K Productions team! We came prepared with two photographers, lighting equipment, a backdrop + stands, and all of our extra batteries and lenses. The team was ready to capture every image on the shot list and send every guest home with a clean, new headshot that they would love.

As Pamela expertly navigated the headshot line, I was practicing my signature ninja skills to shoot all of the event candids without being detected. Then the night continued with inspiring local business owners who gave their advice on finances and funding. It was a real treat to hear about all of their many accomplishments, humble upbringings, and relatable industry mistakes. Looking into the crowd, it wasn’t hard for me to capture all of the raw emotional moments that we needed.

Once these amazing women and non-binary speakers wrapped their presentations, it was time to network. For us, that meant a huge line of eager beavers at the headshot station and our last opportunity for event shots. And I couldn’t be prouder of how we pulled it off in less than an hour! And I think the LWL would concur!

Pam and I packed up as the last guests trickled out. We left with tired feet, full hearts, and about two thousand images to cull through. And we’d do it again! These clients felt extra special to us. They appreciated our artistry, respected our process, and loved having their picture taken. We’re lucky enough to end up in these rooms full of empathetic humans, and to me that means I’m on the right path (no matter how bleak my freelance finances are).

Photography has always been special to me for the experiences and people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. I’m passionate about telling stories. The more you tug at my heart strings, the better! I hope your story will be next.
