Finding Healing and Self Confidence: Introducing Inclusive Boudoir

I’ve been photographing all people and all types of bodies via portraits for the past decade. But a genre I had always been fearful of trying was boudoir. Why? I was/am totally into promoting self confidence with a little edge. I’m in the camp that’s sex positive, body positive, kink positive, queer centric, you get the point!

Well, like most I initially associated the art of boudoir with scantily clad ladies posing in a way in which entertained the male gaze. It left me feeling icky. And that doesn’t even factor in the part where I identify as queer. Would women think I was looking too long? Am I suddenly that weirdo man offering sketchy boudoir in his basement? I avoided it like the plague. In hindsight, we all know this was anxiety and gay trauma.

But about six months ago, I started to get inspired by other queer photographers who didn’t just happen to shoot boudoir from time to time, but actually specialized in it.

People like @wondrashoots, @alexandrakacha or @patrickdonovanstudios lit a spark and I said I want to do that! Sometimes all it takes is a little representation.

Once I put it out into the universe (and my community), the art and creative juices started flowing. And aside from awesome, sexy, and silly photos, what really resonated with me was this new form of helping people find healing and self confidence.

A boudoir photo shoot can be incredibly intimidating and vulnerable. I know because I forced myself to try it! (Spoiler: I started having fun?!) However, once I had the chance to appreciate how gorgeous the photos turned out, I was able to really embrace my body in a whole other way. And even feel more comfy whilst naked! Double win!

Being a queer, non-binary photographer, who often gets mistaken for a little boy can definitely give you mixed signals in life. Whenever I feel that pressure getting to me, I know I can look back at these photos and immediately be reminded that I am indeed THE Baddest!!

I’m looking forward  to sharing my experience and talents with this community! Jas K Productions is built upon spreading self love and finding healing through photography. This feels like a natural addition to my photo career and I’m hoping you’re along for the ride!

Check out some photos from my recent boudoir sessions! Shared with permission. Let me know what you think! And maybe…just maybe start picturing yourself in these images. I promise these are not paid actors.
